1.
“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always
abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor
is not in vain.”
2. “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.”
3.
“So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being
rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all
the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to
know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled
with all the fullness of God.”
4. “But whatever gain I
had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count
everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ
Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and
count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in
him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but
that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God
that depends on faith.”
5. “Therefore, brothers, since we
have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the
new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is,
through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of
God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with
our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies
washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope
without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.”
6.
"Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask
or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in
the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and
ever."
7. “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a
cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which
clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set
before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who
for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the
shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”
8.
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people
for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him
who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were
not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received
mercy, but now you have received mercy.”
9. “Count it all
joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know
that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let
steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and
complete, lacking in nothing.”
10. “See what kind of love
the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God;
and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did
not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be
has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like
him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in
him purifies himself as he is pure.”
