7.  Matthew 12:
8.  Isaiah 53:
9.  Isaiah 61:

 1.  "Look at my servant, whom I strengthen.  He is my chosen one, who pleases me.  I have put my Spirit upon him.  He will bring justice to the nations.  He will not shout or raise his voice in public.  He will not crush the weakest reed  or put out a flickering candle.  He will bring justice to all who have been wronged.  He will not falter or lose heart until justice prevails throughout the earth.  Even distant lands beyond the sea will wait for his instruction."

2.  "But Jesus knew what they were planning.  So he left the area, and many people followed him.  He healed all the sick among them, but he warned them not to reaveal who he was.  This fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah concerning him:                                                                      "Look at my Servant, whom I have chosen.  He is my Beloved, who pleases me. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations.  He will not fight or shout or raise his voice in public.  He will not crush the weakest reed or put a flickering candle.  Finally he will cause justice to be victorious.  And his name will be the hope of all the world."

3.  "He was despised and rejected - a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief.  We turned our backs on him and looked the other way.  He was despised, and we did not care."

4.  "When they heard this, the people of the synagogue were furious.  Jumping up, they mobbed him and forced him to the edge of the hill on which the town was built.  They intended to push him over the cliff, but he passed right through the crowd and went on his way."

5.  "The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me, for the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor.  He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed."

6.  "When he came to the village of Nazareth, his boyhood home, he went as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read the Scriptures.  The scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to him.  He unrolled and found the place where this was written:    "The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor.  He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the LORD'S favor has come." He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down.  All eyes in the synagogue look at him intently.  Then he began to speak to them, "The Scripture you've just heard has been fulfilled this very day!"

7.  "As my vision continued that night, I saw someone like a son of man coming with the clouds of heaven.  He approached the Ancient One and was led into his presence.  He was given authority, honor, and sovereignty over all the nations of the world, so that the people of every race and nation and language would obey him.  His rule is eternal - it will never end.  His kingdom will never be destroyed."

8.  "You will conceive and gave birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.  He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High.  The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David.  And he will reign over Israel forever; his Kingdom will never end!"

9.  "A period of seventy sets of seven has been decreed for your people and your holy city to finish their rebellion, to put an end to their sin, to atone for their guilt, to bring everlasting righteousness, to confirm prophetic vision, and to anoint the Most Holy Place."

10.  "Now listen and understand! Seven sets of seven plus sixty-two sets of seven will pass from the time the command is given to rebuild Jerusalem until a ruler - the Anointed One - comes.  Jerusalem will be rebuilt with streets and strong defenses, despite the perilous times.  After this period of sixty-two sets of seven, the Anointed One will be killed, appearing to have accomplished nothing, and a ruler will arise whose armies will destroy the city and the Temple.  The end will come with a flood, and war and its miseries are decreed from that time to the very end."

11.  "May God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.  Jesus gave his life for your sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live.  All glory to God forever and ever! Amen."
